EMV (Europay + MasterCard + VISA) is an international standard for chip card transactions. This standard was originally developed by the joint efforts of Europay, MasterCard and Visa companies in order to increase the level of security of financial transactions.

EMV standard defines the physical, electronic and informational interaction between a bank card and a payment terminal for financial transactions.
